Dr. Julian practices broad-based oral and maxillofacial surgery and specializes in head and neck cancer and reconstruction, facial trauma and reconstruction, correction of skeletal facial deformities and placement of nerve stimulator devices for treatment of sleep apnea and seizure disorder.
Dr. Julian is a diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is board certified with added qualifications in head and neck oncology and reconstructive surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a board examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (2018–current). He is also the chairman of the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Community Medical Centers/UCSF Fresno and served as the residency program director from 2001-2021.
After practicing in a tertiary care, Level I Trauma Center for nearly 30 years, Dr. Julian has significant expertise and experience in the field. In 2018, he was the recipient of the Henry J. Kaiser Award for Excellence in Teaching, one of the most prestigious teaching awards at UCSF.
After receiving a BS in biochemistry from University of California, San Diego, in 1984, Dr. Julian earned his DDS from USC School of Dentistry in 1988 and then completed a four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC, in 1992. He received his medical degree in 1994 from University of Alabama, Birmingham and completed an intern year in general surgery in 1995. To finish training, he then completed a fellowship in head and neck surgery in Portland, Oregon, in 1996 at Head and Neck Surgical Associates in affiliation with Emanuel Hospital and Medical Center.
He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Fresno Madera Dental Society, and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals.
