Neurocritical care is the diagnosis and treatment of serious or life-threatening conditions that affect the brain or spine. You may be seen by our neurocritical ICU team if you have a condition or experienced an event such as:
Our priority is to diagnose and treat you as quickly and effectively as possible, using the most advanced technology and facilities available. Having access to an established, first-class neurocritical ICU means you and your family can stay in the Central Valley and receive the best care.
Your Community experience begins with our excellent care providers.
Our dedicated team of highly skilled medical professionals — all working together to ensure the best possible outcome for you — includes:
Our team has been recognized for its expertise and care by a number of highly respected organizations.
Beacon Gold Award of Excellence
Community Regional Medical Center is one of just seven neuroscience intensive care units in the United States — and the only one in California — to earn a Beacon Gold Award of Excellence by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).
This distinction is given to critical care nursing teams that demonstrate top patient outcomes, strong collaboration with other units, a healthy work environment and best-in-class nursing practices. It means you can expect a program that puts you and your family first.
Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center
Community Regional is also recognized by The Joint Commission as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center — the only hospital in Fresno to be recognized for this advanced level of stroke care, and the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in the five county region (Fresno, Madera, Merced, Kings and Tulare counties).
A Comprehensive Stroke Center cares for all types of patients, treating the most complex stroke cases, including bleeding (or hemorrhagic) strokes and ischemic strokes, as well as offering 24/7 access to a team of on-site neurosurgical experts.
Primary Stroke Center
Clovis Community Medical Center is recognized by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center — one of six centers in the Central Valley, and one of just three in the Fresno area.
A Primary Stroke Center treats most cases of ischemic stroke (a type of stroke where there’s blood vessel blockage) and provides access to a skilled team of neurosurgery experts within two hours of arrival.
We're here to provide you with a higher level of care, and that's possible thanks to the continued growth of our neurosciences unit. Hear from Dr. Ian Johnson, Community’s medical director of neurosciences, about the future of neurosciences in the Valley.
