For 75 years, the Fresno Mission has strived to meet the spiritual and physical needs of all the men, women and children in our Valley who need help. We meet people where they are and help them get back on their feet, however long that may take.
Helping people has always been a passion of mine. Growing up, my parents pastored a church. It was normal for me to see my parents serve others without question. So, from an early age, I was taught the importance of serving others. I started my career in education, but 12 years ago, I felt the Lord calling me to serve in a different way, and I’ve been at Fresno Mission ever since.
I now serve as Fresno Mission’s Chief Ministry Officer — overseeing all our ministerial programs, including our Medical Respite Center, which Community Health System helps staff. The Respite Center provides patients a safe place and continued medical care to people who have been discharged from the hospital and don’t have a support system or anywhere to go.
Without Community’s help, the Respite Center wouldn’t be able to provide continuing medical care for this many people. Our partnership helps increase access to care for those who need it most.
